Society blames well-read women
Society blames well-read women,
For not conforming to traditional rhythms,
For refusing to be held in prison,
Of silence and a lack of ambition.
They are told, that they read too much,
And that their minds are out of touch,
With reality and the daily crutch,
Of a life that's deemed as such.
Their passion for knowledge is seen,
As a flaw, and they're often keen,
To judge and to intervene,
In a world that's too often obscene.
But women who are well-read,
Are not to be shamed or to be misled,
For they bring a change that's not just in their head,
But a change, that's for all to be fed.
They inspire, and they motivate,
And they don't settle, for a life that's second-rate,
For they know, that they're worth the weight,
Of a world, that's not filled with hate.
So let's not blame, the well-read women,
For they are not the problem, but the emblem,
Of a world, that's not just for them,
But for all to rise and stem.
For their voices are worth listening to,
And their knowledge, is a gift that's true,
And it's up to us to change the view,
Of a society, that's long overdue.
