We often talk about our cultures and histories with pride, not knowing the concealed pain and hurt of many. This poem calls us to pay attention to the silenced voices and encourages the journey of becoming strong in our voices.

Glorified history and celebrated cultures,  

Yet so many stories remain obscured.  

In the radiant shadows, secrets deeply reside,  

Hushed abuse, a truth we seldom confide. 

 

People's orientations, a path unchosen,  

Abuse's intrusion, a pain never frozen.  

Whispers persist, prejudices ignite,  

Silencing voices, dimming courage's light. 

 

Barriers we strive to break and disrupt,  

A relentless endeavor, like fire erupts.  

Norms might resist, entrenched and sly,  

But your light shines on, never to die. 

 

Pride's banner flutters, held tall in the sky,  

Amidst battle cries, empowerment nigh.  

Cultural chains heavy, a burden endured,  

But strength prevails, truth's path assured. 

 

Even in corners, secrets multiply,  

Shame's grip weakened, sealed lips untie.  

Our strengths take flight, no longer suppressed,  

In unity, we rise, our stories confessed.
