A poem to emphasize story-telling for children
Listening to stories in our loved one's voice is a cherished memory for many of us. However, in today's world, this experience has become increasingly rare. We now find ourselves listening to stories in unfamiliar voices, and even though the stories may be entertaining, they don't always evoke the same warmth and attachment to our hearts.
Here’s to stories –
For parents and children interested in telling, hearing, and remembering stories.
Of all the gifts we give to our young
One of the greatest is a story sung
Tales of wonder, joy, and fear
That light up the imagination and makes it clear
Stories teach us so much and in so many ways
They show us how to live, how to love, how to play
They help us understand the world and its ways
And the people in it, with all their different traits
Through stories, we learn to dream and to aspire
To be courageous, to reach ever higher
To seek out adventure and to face the unknown
To explore new worlds and make them our own
Stories can teach us about history and culture
And help us understand our roots and nurture
They can inspire empathy and a sense of compassion
And encourage us to act with a sense of conviction
For children, stories are like a magic wand
That sparks their imagination and helps them bond
With the world around them and the people they meet
As they grow and learn and take their seat
So let us tell stories to our children with care
And let them explore their worlds out there
For stories are more than just words on a page
They are a gift of love that lasts from age to age.
