WORK WORK WORK — Like Rihanna, But Real Life!

Let’s Talk About Work and What It Really Means to Show Up

As we traverse through life in various capacities — mother, teacher, boyfriend, or just a self-proclaimed “liver” (as Orry puts it) — we often put off accepting the unique, sometimes chaotic parts of ourselves. These are the parts that reveal themselves when we move through different roles and phases, trying to make sense of our efforts, reactions, accomplishments… and even the silence.

It’s in those silences, too, where we often draw conclusions — sometimes harsh ones — about ourselves or others.

Who Are We When No One’s Watching?

To be in any kind of relationship — whether professional, personal, or passing — it helps to know how we function when we’re alone.

This awareness might look like:

  • Understanding why silence feels uncomfortable and needs “fixing”

  • Realizing why planning offers calm, even if others call it “too much”

  • Recognizing our need for connection as part of our wiring as social beings

This Week’s Reflection: WORK LIFE

Whether you're hustling at a 9-to-5, freelancing, parenting full-time, or pouring yourself into creative projects — work shows us a lot about ourselves. Let’s take a moment to pause and reflect on how we relate to it:

💬 How Do You Respond to Feedback?

Do you get defensive, discouraged, or energized by it?
What small shift in your response could help you grow, rather than withdraw?

âš¡ Conflict at Work — Then What?

When things get tense at work, what steps can you take to resolve them without feeling depleted or resentful?
What would “healthy conflict resolution” look like for you?

🌟 Who Inspires You at Work?

Is there someone in your workplace — or in your broader circle — whose work ethic or values move you?
What is it about their presence or approach that feels impactful?

🌱 How Has Work Helped You Grow?

Beyond income and output, how has your work shaped your character, your confidence, or your capabilities?

🪴 What Would Help You Feel More You at Work?

What would you like to see, hear, feel, or do more of in your workspace that would make you feel safe, creative, and belonged?

💡 Why Do You Show Up for Work?

Why do you dedicate your time, effort, and energy every day?
Does it feel meaningful? Worth it? If not — what might need to change?

You Are Not “Too Much”

These weekly reflections are here to help you dig deeper — into your roots, your reasons, your rhythms.
That part of you that’s intense, driven, emotional, or reflective? It might be exactly what this world needs.
