Let’s Explore: Daily Reminders

As we traverse through life—in the roles of a mother, teacher, partner, or simply a “liver,” as Orry would say—we often delay accepting our unique, idiosyncratic roots.

What does that mean? As we move through different phases of life, it’s easy to become absorbed in the outcomes of things—how a project turned out, how someone responded, or even how silence lingered. In those moments, we may become overly self-critical—or unintentionally hard on others—for the meanings we assign to those outcomes.

Being With Ourselves First

To show up for someone in any relationship—friendship, family, romantic or otherwise—it helps to first know how we are when we’re alone.

Self-awareness might look like:

  • Noticing why silence feels awkward and why we rush to fill it

  • Understanding that planning ahead brings us calm, even if it overwhelms others

  • Remembering that our need for connection isn’t weakness—it’s part of being human

Before we ask, How do I connect with others? we can begin by asking, How am I with myself?

This Week, Let’s Explore: Daily Reminders

Sometimes, the most powerful reflections are simple check-ins. They help us stay grounded in our own lives, even on the most chaotic days.

Take a few minutes today and ask yourself:

  • How am I feeling physically?

  • How am I feeling mentally?

  • What is something I liked about yesterday?

  • What is something I would like to tell myself today?

  • Who would I like to meet or connect with today?

These gentle questions can act as anchors, reminding us that we are allowed to pause, reflect, and be kind to ourselves.

You Are Not “Too Much”

These weekly articles are meant to help you reconnect with your inner voice—your values, your philosophy, your emotional truths.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re “too much,” know that the very things you’ve been told to quiet down may actually be your greatest strength. This world needs your depth, your voice, your reflection.
