How Do You Consider Your Worth?

Reflecting on Value, Identity, and Self-Acceptance

As we traverse through life in various capacities — as a mother, teacher, boyfriend, or, in Orry’s words, simply a “liver” — we often delay embracing our own idiosyncratic roots.

Moving through different roles and phases, it’s natural to become wrapped up in the inferences we draw — from outcomes, compliments, achievements, and even silences. But in those quiet, reflective moments, we may be harsh critics of ourselves — and sometimes of others — based on what we think things meant.

Being With Others Starts With Being With Yourself

To be with someone — in any capacity — it’s vital to know a little about how we are when we’re alone.

That self-awareness might come from noticing:

  • Why silences feel awkward or like they must be filled

  • Why planning ahead feels calming to you, even if it overwhelms others

  • Why, despite your unique traits, connection still matters — and why being called a “social being” is no accident

This Week’s Theme: How Do You Consider Your Worth?

Let’s explore the concept of worth — where it comes from, how it’s shaped, and why it matters.

Use the prompts below as journaling or reflection points:

  • What are some instances that made you feel valued?

  • Why do you think the way we hold our own value matters?

  • Do you agree that others only value you as much as you value yourself? Why or why not?

  • How does your sense of self-worth influence other areas of your life — like relationships, work, or your inner voice?

Your Uniqueness Is Not “Too Much”

With every article in this series, we hope to help you look deeper into:

  • Your values and roots

  • Your unique philosophy of life

  • Your motivations and the very gifts that might’ve once been dismissed as “too much”

What makes you “different” may actually be what this world needs the most right now.
