Emotions Are Your Friends!

Let’s Learn to Listen to What They’re Trying to Tell Us

As we traverse through life — as a mother, teacher, boyfriend, or simply a “liver,” as Orry might say — we often delay embracing our idiosyncrasies. These unique traits are part of our roots, and yet, in the rush of everyday life, we tend to overlook them.

As we move through different roles and stages, it's natural to focus heavily on the meanings we attach to projects, praise, silence — and everything in between. But when we lean into those interpretations too much, we may find ourselves being overly harsh, either to ourselves or to others.

Knowing Yourself, Especially When You're Alone

To be in any kind of relationship — whether romantic, platonic, or professional — we must first understand who we are when we are by ourselves.

This may involve:

  • Recognizing why silence feels awkward and why we rush to fill it

  • Understanding how pre-planning helps us stay calm — even if others don’t get it

  • Accepting that we need people — because being a “social being” isn’t a weakness, it’s a core part of us

This Week’s Reflection: EMOTIONS

Emotions are messages — not inconveniences. They are not obstacles to logic; they are the very data that helps us feel whole. So this week, we invite you to reflect on how you engage with your emotional landscape:

💧 When You’re Feeling Low...

What kind of help feels kind and useful to you in those moments?
What can you do for yourself that genuinely supports you, rather than pushes you to “get over it”?

🎉 Celebrating Yourself

What does self-celebration mean to you?
How do you celebrate your growth, your effort, or even just your ability to try again?

🤝 Conflict and Connection

In times of conflict, do you isolate or do you reach out?
Why does this feel safer or more effective for you — and is there another way you’d like to try?

👤 Loneliness vs Being Alone

These aren’t the same. Can you identify and describe at least five ways they differ?
Try to reflect on:

  • Emotional experience

  • Mental stimulation

  • Presence of choice

  • Inner dialogue

  • Physical environment

🔄 Daily Grounding Chores

What are small, consistent actions you can do every day that help you feel prepared — emotionally, mentally, and practically?

🌱 Your Support System

What does your current support system look like?
This might include:

  • Hobbies that make you feel alive

  • People who uplift you

  • Spaces that help you recharge

  • Rituals that bring clarity

  • Activities that reconnect you to joy

You Are Not “Too Much”

In these weekly reflections, we invite you to explore your roots, your emotional intelligence, your motivations — and the parts of you that might have once been dismissed.

Because maybe, just maybe, what you’ve been told is “too much” is exactly what’s needed in the world right now.
