and its strangeness
Celebrating with The iDare Collective:
"Writing this piece felt necessary because heartbreak changes us in ways we rarely admit out loud, and I wanted to capture that silent struggle. If you’re reading this alone, please know your fears and hopes about love are valid feeling torn is more common than you think. I’m just someone learning, like you, how to trust again after being hurt, and I hope these words make you feel a little less alone."
Life is so strange sometimes.
I’ve been hurt in ways I can’t even fully explain. The kind of hurt that doesn’t just break
your heart, once it slowly chips away at your ability to trust, your belief in people, and
even a part of yourself.
I trusted someone for years. I believed I knew him, believed he was one of the best people
in my world. But everything I thought I knew… shattered. And suddenly, he wasn’t that
person anymore. He was a stranger. A liar. Someone I never imagined he could be.
And honestly, something inside me broke with that.
I became so careful with my heart after that.
Not because I stopped believing in love…
But because I stopped believing people would stay the same forever.
I decided I would never fall for someone again. I would stay away from all of this.
But life is strange… the things you try hardest to run away from somehow find their way
back to you.
And now, there’s someone new.
And I can feel it, I don’t trust him, not completely. I don’t even fully know him. My past
keeps echoing in my mind, reminding me of everything that went wrong before. It feels like
my heart and my mind are constantly at war.
Because despite everything… I still want to be with him.
And that scares me.
I don’t want to fall again. I don’t want to create another beautiful image of someone, turn
them into my “perfect person,” only to watch it all collapse one day. I don’t want to go
through that kind of heartbreak again.
But at the same time, I can feel myself slowly slipping… slowly falling… even when I’m
trying not to.
I’m scared that maybe one day he’ll do the same thing. Or maybe something even worse.
But what’s the solution then?
To stop feeling?
To stop loving?
To keep running every time something starts to feel real?
Because the truth is… I’m stuck between wanting love and being terrified of it.
And I honestly don’t know what to do with that.
