If It Is A Feeling

Celebrating with The iDare Collective:
"I wrote this because I realised how long I had been careful with everyone else’s heart while treating my own as if it couldn’t break. Putting it into words felt like finally admitting that the person holding the glass is also fragile.
If you’re reading this in silence and have spent years being the strong one for others, I want you to know that your own tenderness still matters. You are allowed to need care too.
I am someone who learned to measure every word and soften every silence, and who is now slowly remembering that my hands are made of glass as well. iDare has become a space where these quieter truths can finally be spoken.
I measured every word,
softened every silence,
wrapped my love in careful hands,
afraid I might leave a crack.
Somewhere along the way,
I forgot
that I, too,
could shatter.
I became the stone
that carried everyone else’s fragility,
mistaking numbness
for strength.
I knew the language
of everyone’s tears,
yet lost the sound
of my own.
Perhaps awareness
isn’t only seeing
where others are breaking.
Perhaps it’s remembering
that the hands
holding the glass
are made of glass too.
